Vietnam - Days 1 and 2

After twenty-four hours of travel (thank you American Airlines Flagship Lounge), we arrived at the hotel late Saturday night and crashed.

We’re two full days in and they’ve been packed. On Sunday, there was shopping, massages, and a food tour. Well, there should have been a food tour but we missed it. I always try to schedule a food tour so we quickly made a new plan: go on our own using pictures and locations from the food tours I’ve done on past visits. We ate a ton so I’d say it was a success.
With temps in the 90’s, we tried to stay in during the heat of the day. But by the look of our sweat-drenched clothes and dripping faces after being out all morning, I’m not sure it mattered much.

On Monday, we joined a small group tour and went to Ninh Binh and Tam Coc. We took a boat ride among the limestone rock formations. The serenity of the mountains and rice fields often leaves me without words. Later we rode Vespas through the countryside, stopping for water buffalo, baby ducks, and a two week old puppy.

Later in our visit, we are going to Halong Bay and I am looking forward to it since I’ve never been.
